PAIR GUESSING
Every character in the game has been assigned a fated pair. Anything significant in the characters' backstories, values, perspectives, or personalities can serve as the basis for a pair.
Characters who find, acknowledge, and fight alongside their pair can draw upon an even more powerful well of magic. With a correct guess, pairs will be granted a special bonus to help one another when the going gets rough.
To prevent people from submitting every name combination at once and to encourage interaction among the game's cast, we are requiring a link to the thread that led you to think they are paired. We also request that the second party involved in the guess/thread reply to the submission with any kind of agreement (a simple "yes," a gushing essay...).

Maya and Yamato both have entertainment industry knowledge and deal with the public a lot in different ways. They also click, personality-wise! Maya likes how chill and easy to talk to Yamato is, and he really appreciates her positive energy. They also both seem to like taking care of others ouo They get along super well!

The two of them hit it off pretty much immediately! They're both interested in revenge against the people who have wronged them, and sympathetic to each other as a result, wanting the best for each other at the end of the revenge road. By the end of their first thread they were already comfortable enough to laugh and tease each other which - have you seen these boys and their problems. That's some good fuckin CR babey.

Third time's a charm – Kiryu's been another one of my guesses for Yamato since the hint Yams received matches him to a T! He's been through a lot but has a kind heart and strong body despite everything. Yamato also matches Kiryu's hint, stares at how many times this guy has made mistakes...
Anyway, aside from that, they're two normal dudes just trying their best in a foreign land with new concepts (magic and the like) to learn. They've both got protective instincts, too, and they've both displayed remorse at being unable to help the people around them.

Akira liked Bruno from the start, but who wouldn't... What Akira sees in Bruno is someone who has a tremendous gift but has been shackled by circumstance and is unable to break free of those tethers on his own. Akira was in a similar position at one point in his life and managed to overcome it with the help of his friends, so imagine if he can help our resident sexy tio do the same?

Character 2: Leo Tsukinaga

Mika had two hints toward his partner - from the fortune teller and from his rewards - that helped me be a little more confident in my guess, since I suspected it from their first thread but wasn't too sure! They're both opposites in a lot of external ways - Leo is spontaneous and adventurous, Mika is meticulous and cautious; Leo is silly and trusting, Mika is serious and misanthropic - but at the core they have very similar experiences with loving others very passionately, being willing to do anything for them, and being haunted by their perceived past harm they've to the person they care for most. Leo, however, finally found support in a solid group of friends, and Mika was ... close to that but died before he could achieve that, rip. But they have very similar arcs/paths for that reason, while also, hilariously, reminding each other of the other important person in their lives (Mika reminding Leo of Sena, and Leo reminding Mika of Yuu).

You ever just get mutually abandoned by society due to magic being Ooky Spooky and then go completely opposite ways with how you decide to treat humanity because of/despite it?
They are two different monsters of two different upbringings who care very much for their own and very little for who would threaten their own. They just have very, very different views on humanity's involvement in their struggles, with Ithaqua holding resentment due to the treatment of his loved ones and Solomon taking on a far more protective role despite similar treatment to himself. It's led to a very opposite, butting heads, semi-understanding and absolute refusal to meet one another in the middle at points due to how viciously they stand on their independent grounds.
I wouldn't call them foils, but they are both remarkably similar while being polar opposite in what's important to them, and their clues have cemented that idea with Ithaqua having been literally discarded, and Solomon having chosen his path despite humanity completely rejecting him.

I had a hunch they were paired up since they hit things off almost immediately from their first thread, and their fortune-teller hints pretty much confirmed it ("They are not as open as they seem, believing everything they encounter will amount to nothing in the end." and "At war with themself, though this doesn’t stop them from always striving forward with singleminded focus."). I was just waiting for IC developments to time this.
They're both very similar in some ways and very different in others, to the point they're sometimes just weird inversions of each other. Day is more outwardly personable and soft-spoken, Ginger is more anxious and honest, but at heart, they're both lonely and at least a little desperate. They're both capable of loving deeply but are opposite in how they approach it; Day gives love easily but is resigned to the inevitability of losing all relationships such that he simply gives up, Ginger struggles with hesitation and doubt but will hold onto those relationships fiercely. They're different yet similar enough that they've just naturally fallen into rapport with each other even if they aren't always in perfect agreement. At the very least, they're comfortable enough that sometimes they just Say Shit to one another yet their relationship stays fully intact and none the worse for wear.
tl;dr These two idiots trust and care deeply about each other and want to try looking out for each other's happiness and well-being. I will eat my hat if my guess is wrong.

Character 2: Shinjiro Aragaki

linking for their general standard banter vibes, look at some of their threads.
Right from the start, Cocoa and I came to a quick conclusion that they could be definitely pairs (like there were some other thoughts on other peeps, but I immediately first thought of Shinji first when I saw:)
"Guilt is a heavy burden they bear, but they have strength of will to make sure nothing like that ever happens again."
Due to knowing some deets about Persona 3, thinking of how Shinji had extremely heavy guilt in his heart, though did his best despite that, but also...
"Guilt is an old friend of theirs, but it goes hand in hand with their acceptance the past is still something to be treasured."
Jing Yuan also held guilt in his heart for his own perceived lateness/inaction (unavoidable due to him fighting elsewhere in a war) surrounding his friends, even if it's more subtle, far more buried. He also treasures deeply those bonds, even if he acts like they do not shackle them and he is applauded for his coping skills.
So, moving onto their general vibes and everything, in that that they definitely are polar opposites on the surface when it comes to face-first impressions/personality. Shinji is quiet, blunt, grumpy, whereas Jing Yuan is relaxed, pleasant, and talkative. Though beyond the surface, you still to get to similarities, where neither of them desire to have others shoulder their burdens; where they would/will jump at the chance at looking out for other people at great costs; where both can be closed off about talking too much about themselves. Where they, ultimately, do not let people get too close, and end up not having too many close bonds.
They also share their own versions of guilt, which is inherently linked to bonds of people in their lives, and feel somewhere deep down that their actions (Shinjiro) / inaction (Jing Yuan) affected things greatly.
(below are spoilers for Persona 3/Honkai Star Rail)
Also, they are the type of person not to hesitate to/try to sacrifice themselves to save people who are in danger (small scope/grander scope), especially if they see it as the only solution at the time.
I also took notice that they tend to try to motivate people in the same way in certain situations (looking at the Akira thread where there was a brief moment what they said about moving forward was literally spoken in the same kind of vibes)
They're also the kind of people who have difficulty expressing how much they care about others, unexpectedly so (Jing Yuan having a militaristic point of view starts to revert to that persona as seen in his earlier attempts to check on in people and do I even need to start with Shinjiro 'conceal don't feel grumpypants raccoon eyes' Aragaki?)
Furthermore, speaking more closely about how they interact, we started to truly get the feeling they could be a pair around the time where Jing Yuan was helping Shinjiro back to his room mid-Ahito times. Just thinking about how in general, they do a little back and forth banter, almost what one could swear is not too dissimilar to a comedy routine or where the age-old dynamic of how the sour one deals/gets along with the happy one. Somehow, it worked out well for them because neither one of them gets on the other's nerves (beyond nuancing one another), and that flows well with how things are going on with their bond.
It has also gotten to serious points, though, where Jing Yuan is perfectly fine with being straight up/blunt with Shinjiro more than he is with most people, which is a feat, but Shinjiro's straightforward personality about Jing Yuan's everything suits him perfectly well too. They are clearly able to understand another from each other's point of view (thus far) and that seems to allow some sort of mutual understanding continue to flourish.

Character 2: Comet

Between the hints we've had - particularly the most recent ones! - and their threads, we believe Malice and Comet are a pair. They have quite a few major differences: namely that Comet is trying to blend in while Malice tries to stand out, and the way they've handled their specific pasts goes in vastly different directions. Comet wants to explore and see the world and have a life that was denied them on the moon, while Malice seeks to kill the people who have harmed him most.
Both are shaped by their pasts, however; these desires of theirs are born out of what happened to them and in a way, they're both trying to take control. They also have some things in common with their pasts: Comet was mistreated and looked down on because they were different; Malice was mistreated because he was a vampire (and because other vampires viewed him as weak).
Despite this, both of them seek to not repeat the hurt that was done to them... Well, sort of. Malice is at least considering that maybe violence is not the answer now? But it probably will still be the answer in the end, so at least Comet's doing better!!

I'll just add on to say that the both of them are really supportive towards eachother in different ways that I think is good for a fated pair, as seen here! Comet is easygoing and trusts in whatever Malice does without much reservation because he does it with confidence, while Malice is really encouraging towards Comet because they want to try something no matter success or failure. It's very sweet for them both.
More seriously, Comet understands that Malice wants to do better and can "forgive" (as much as an uninvolved person can) Malice's past betrayals, while Malice warmly offers his companionship when he saw how lonely Comet had been in their past.
Also, another yes on them wanting to be better people not repeating the hurt to them... including the "sort of"! It came up in another memshare, but Comet indirectly doomed the Moon People to eventual mortality, by both running away and befriending the god who granted them their magic and now hates them (Comet was meant to be a sacrifice to that god in exchange for the Moon People's immortality). They are 100% aware of this, so they'll kinda get revenge... someday. They might not even be alive by then, so it's not a big deal to them. Just funny.

I twirl at the spirits and their mercurial ways.
So there's a lot Khun & Robin have in common, even if common might not be the right word, similarities, maybe? They'd certainly quibble on it (see thread), regardless, in their very first thread on the intro log khun looked at robin and saw the void and he acknowledged this as a fellow void!
Which mean that for a while Khun wanted nothing really to do with him because it's less like repels and more like thinks it knows exactly what like can do and that's bad when you're at a disadvantage because wtf is being a wizard. Anyway, they're both calculating, can be terribly cruel, see each other (and people) as pawns, have daddy/creator issues and are also both actually lightning aligned.
Perhaps most importantly, they both abhor the idea of anyone using them even if the reasons for that might be different. But I think at the least, they can acknowledge each other which is pretty rare, and moreover, neither of them expect their relationship to be anything with actual emotional weight or gussied up ideas of fate/destiny (sorry spirits).

Honestly they've got a lot going for them as a pair, too. They're both from JRPG worlds and are part of a main party/crew, so I feel like their backgrounds in adventuring mesh well with each other. They'd also make a good DPS/support combo!

Seems to me like they both have a deep interest in magic, though for different (albeit both kind of unhinged) reasons; on the other hand, their attitude towards their own magic is kind of polar opposites. In Cid's case, he's interested in delving into the development of his magic no matter the consequences and generally he sees magic as a sort of freedom and power that can be turned to where he wants it to go. Phil, on the other hand, has a number of issues with his own magic and his use of it -- while he too devotes himself to the development of his power, he has not been able to reconcile himself with the ends he uses it for.
